About allergy testing

An allergy blood test helps your doctor understand whether your symptoms, such as sneezing, itching, rashes or breathing trouble, may be linked to a particular trigger. Allergy blood tests help doctors find out whether your immune system reacts to things such as dust, pollen, foods or animal dander.

How an allergy blood test works

When the body reacts to an allergen, it can make antibodies called IgE. An allergy blood test measures IgE, either the total amount or the amount linked to specific allergens, such as house dust mites, pollen, certain foods or animal dander. The test needs only a blood sample, so no skin-prick testing is involved.

Reading the result

A raised value shows sensitivity to that allergen, but it does not always mean that the allergen is causing your symptoms. Your doctor will compare the report with your history before advising you.

Before your visit

Allergy blood tests usually do not need fasting. Bring your doctor's request slip if you have one, because allergen panels differ. Contact us to check which allergy tests and panels are available and how long the report takes.

Your report

Reports can be collected in print or sent on WhatsApp. We will tell you the expected time when the sample is collected.

Please note: this page explains the service in general terms. It is not medical advice. Ask your doctor which tests you need, and contact Aarogya Seva Lab to confirm that a specific test is available.
